A leader of Saving and Credit group played a prominent part in VBSP operation system
(VBSP News) There are 12 Savings and Credit Groups at Truong Son village, Quang Ninh district (Quang Binh province), which played as "the bridges" between the VBSP branch in Quang Ninh and the poor households as well as other policy-based beneficiaries. Following is a typical example of Nguyen Thi Nga, who is one of the leaders of the Savings and Credits group of Cay Su village.

Nga was born in Nam Dinh. In 1979, she moved to Xuan Ninh village, Quang Ninh province when she got married to a local here and followed her husband to Truong Son village to start her business. Nga was delegated by VBSP to be a leader of the Savings and Credits group since 2007. During the time, she has always dedicated to her work and has a good performance. Especially, she has managed the loan capital strictly within no overdue debt throughout 15 year. Currently, Nga manages 31 poor households as active customers of VBSP, in which 18 of those are ethnic minorities of Bru-Van Kieu. The total outstanding loans have been managed up to VND 1,3 billion. This is one of the typical savings and credit groups in managing loan amounts without overdue debts. Moreover, the group members are always exemplary in paying monthly interest and reaching the rate of 100%.
Under the impacts of Covid-19, the financial situation of people in the village met many difficulties. Hence, many households were aware of participating in savings deposits at the Savings and Credits group and took a loan with the amount of VND 46 million. This figure shows the great effort of the leader in the process of motivating local people of Truong Son commune.
Nga shares that she had to manage the loan strictly to make sure the loans transparent. There are 31 members in the Savings and Credits group, divided into small groups with a leader. Each leader has to supervise, support their members to use the loan effectively, payback on time, besides reporting the members' difficulties to Nga to find solutions.
Regarding Hoang Thi Kham’s family, her family was listed as a poor household. Thanks to the encouragement and clear explanation of the leader, Kham has borrowed 50 million VND from VBSP to invest in farming and ranching. Nowadays, Kham has 4 cows, 3 buffaloes, 3 pigs, and 5 ha of acacia. As a result, Kham's family has escaped from poverty, as well as improved her life's quality. Kham shares that Nga had not only always supported but also encouraged her when her family was in a pickle.
The Vice Director of the VSPB branch of Quang Ninh - Mr. Hoang Dai Tuy stated that Truong Son commune has 538 household borrowing preferential loans of VBSP; 11 lending programs with the debt of 17 billion VND; monthly interest reaches 100%. Total deposit savings of members reached 538 million. These figures are significant for a mountainous commune.
To have that positive result, the local government has put lots of attention on people's lives, which representative though the leader of Saving and Credit group - Mrs. Nga. As a responsible, dedicated leader, Nga has managed the loans effectively, besides supporting poor households in Cay Su village. Remarkably, the Saving and Credit Group managed by her has become a great example. Nga has accompanied VBSP in Quang Ninh to support the poor effectively, lending to the suitable object.
Due to these achievements, Nguyen Thi Nga has been honoured by the Director of VBSP in Quang Ninh for her outstanding work performance in terms of the implementation of policy credit and sustainable poverty reductions.
