A conscientious leader of Savings and Credit group
(VBSP News) Thach Thi Dung at Tra Quyt B hamlet, Thuan Hoa village, Chau Thanh district (Soc Trang) has been working as a leader of Savings and Credit Group, which is managed by Thuan Hoa's Woman Union. She always dedicates her work, as well as being a typical example of poverty escape and improving livelihood better.

Tra Quyt B hamlet, Thuan Hoa village is a countryside area, in which the majority of residents is the minority. Besides providing agriculture products, people living at Tra Quyt B also have to do other works, such as bricklayers, industrial workers, etc. However, their living conditions are still difficult and unstable. Due to the loans by VPSB, poor households at Tra Quyt B have the capital to invest in farming and cultivation to escape poverty. Regarding Thach Thi Dung – Leader of the Savings and Credit group in Tra Quyt B Hamlet, almost all poor households and other policy beneficiaries know and respect her.
Dung shares that she knew VSPB associated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and People's Committee to deploy the loans for cattle breeding from the provincial and district budgets. Therefore, she has invited and motivated residents in her village to borrow money from the government budget. Thanks to the budget, many households have increased their income. At that time, there are 14 members borrowed the loans, approximately up to 600 million VND. After the loans have been approached, the life of people at Tra Quyt becomes more vibrant. Everyone was focusing on breeding and producing.
"There was a meeting of Savings and Credit Group on 28th each month. In particular, the meeting was not only about collecting the interest and savings but also sharing about the farming and breeding technique and knowledge. Due to the policy credit loans, there are several households which have an effective investment, such as Chau Ba Tong, Son Tay, Thach Den, etc." Ms Dung said.
Besides focusing on her work as the leader, Dung also wants to do business to escape poverty. She had already listed the poor household as well. In 2016, approached by the loans provided by VSPB, her family bought 1.500 ducks and 2 cows to develop her own business. As a consequence, her living conditions have been gradually improved. Moreover, she paid 25-millions VND back to VSPB and rebuilt her house. In 2018, her family escaped from poverty
The Director of the VSPB in Chau Thanh, Ms.Trinh Bich Tuyen, acknowledges Dung is a dedicated leader who always researches and understands clearly the processes of VBSP, makes sure that the loans are borrowed to the suitable object. Hence, the number of members of the Savings and Credit Group has increased significantly, from 43 members with the debt of 737 million VND to 60 members with approximate 1,8 billion VND. Thach Thi Dung is always a great example thanks to her enthusiasm and responsibility in work.
