SUCCESSFUL STORY IN DIEN KHANH DISTRICT, KHANH HOA PROVINCE
I was born in Khanh Vinh district but our family moved to Dien Tan commune, Dien Khanh district for agriculture production. I and A Sa got married in poverty in 1985. In 1987 we separated from the big family, built our own house equipped with only tw
We used the savings to cultivate 5 poles for sugar-cane growing but we did not have enough money to buy young sugar-canes. I applied for a loan of 1 million dong to buy young sugar-canes as a member of the Women Union. One year later, we used the earnings to buy additional 1 ha and we applied for the second loan of 2 million dongs. Unfortunately we suffered losses and felt into hard situation. In 1998 our business got better and I can repay the loan. We bought additional 2 ha and applied for the third loan of 3.5 million dongs. Thanks to the concern and support from mass organizations and VBSP and with our efforts and experience, we earned 40 million dongs in 2000. We repaid the loan and have expanded our sugar-cane production. We also make wet rice cultivation at the productivity of 4 quintal/pole and get 1.6 tons of rice.
We applied for other loan of 5 million dongs to buy a reproductive cow.
Thanks to the Government and the special support from Dien Khanh district transaction office our family has escaped from poverty. We built a house (valued at 60 million dongs) equipped with modern facilities as gas cooker, electric rice cooker, motorcycle…As the leader of Credit and Savings Group of the Women Union, I now do my best to introduce to lending programmes and support the poor households to develop production and leave poverty.
