Farmers out of poverty through VBSP favorable loans
To implement the policy of poverty reduction, the VBSP transaction office in Dai Loc District has created favorable conditions for farmers, especially disadvantaged households, to approach credit capitals for business and production development.
Over the past years, thanks to the VBSP’s loans, hundreds of poor farmers in Dai Loc District have overcome difficulties, kept stable lives and step by step escaped from poverty sustainably. Nguyen Phuong Van’s family in Ai Nghia Town is one typical household of getting away poverty. With a loan of 8 million dongs, her family has got profits from pig raising in the past three years. Van’s family has escaped poverty steadily with the monthly income of 02 million dongs. Van says “Before borrowing from VBSP, I could not buy any breeding pig, but after getting VBSP loans, I have expanded more, from one pig to two, from pigs to chickens, ducks and a lot of things”.
Alike Van’s family, hundreds of households in Dai Loc District have accessedpreferential loans from VBSP. Some households borrow little, some others borrow more, but almost all have developed benefits of loans. They have stable incomes and escape from poverty sustainably.
Nguyen Dang Bay in Dai Tan commune confides: ‘ With this loan, I have solved problems for my children to school, VBSP is very interested in lending to poor households for business and production and take children to school”
Up to now, a number of customers at Dai Loc District are up to 14,000 people traveling much time to the center of district, the customer can easily make transaction in 18 mobile transaction points in 18 communes and towns where he or she lives. 100% of villages have got Savings and Credit Groups so far.
Mai Anh Son – Deputy Director of VBSP branch in Dai Loc District says: “For the poor household lending program, we would like to suggest the Government to expand to near-poor households. According to the new poverty standard, these near-poor households will not entitled to borrow from poor households program. To help the near poor escape from poverty in a sustainable manner, the Government need to expand new clientele, especially the near poor.
The loans from VBSP helps Dai Loc District reduce the annual poverty rate from 4 to 5%, which brings about the new face of Dai Loc district, and more innovation and contributes to the successful policy of “Agriculture, farmers and rural areas” of the Party.
Now, there are still over 7,400 poor households in Dai Loc District. It is expected that, with the loans of VBSP and the efforts of local governments, this figure will be greatly reduced in the time to come.
