Lift from poverty from microfinance

Having about 1 ha of corn field in a rocky mountain but the household kept being in starvation and poverty year by year as they were lack of capital and production experience. After taking cautious consideration, No discussed with his wife to borrow VND 7 million from VBSP for production. First of all, he built cage, bought seedling cows, planted new kind of corn so that they could utilize its trunk to feed cows, and cut down cow herding effort. After corns were harvested, he planted elephant grass to feed the cows. Up to now,his cows has developed to a herd of six ones.

With training and experienced received, Mr.No applied advance technology into planting trees, thus, he gained around 5 tons of rice and corns each year. As food was available, he invested in raising chickens and pigs. He knows how to balance between long term and short term production which results in high productivity in both planting and animal husbandry. At present, No’s family has had an income of more than 30 million dong per year. He has bought about 2,000 m2 rice field, afforded his children to go to school, built houses for each of his three children and facilitated his house with modern convenience. He intends to invest in building a farm to expand animal husbandry, increase income, therefore, to get richer.

Being enterprising, Truong Van No has been considered as one of the well producing and doing business households of ethnic minority groups in Cao Bang province.
