VBSP conduct housing assistance project for poor households

Performing the Government Decision on housing assistance for poor households, VBSP's Branch of Vĩnh Phúc province has implemented the housing assistance with total fund source of VND 130.6 billion for 5,224 poor households (with average loan of VND 25 million/household).

According to the project target until 2012, the branch strives for housing assistance for 5,224 poor households; 1,000 households have been supported in 2009 (including 609 ethnic families and 391 families in disadvantaged areas), 1,500 households will be supported in 2010; 1,500 households will be supported in 2011 and 1,224 households in 2012. The fund source is currently distributed in districts. 100% of communes and districts have established their board of poverty reduction & job creation and conducted the Government's Decision No.167. Certifying lists of poor households for housing assistance has been explicitly and democratically implemented with participation of mass organizations in hamlets and villages. After receiving enough funds, households will be helped building houses, also be directly instructed, monitored and urged to ensure requirement of living areas, construction and usage quality. In early June 2009, the VBSP branch intends to make first fund disbursement after having the certified lists and applications of beneficiaries in 2009.
