VBSP support for migrant workers abroad
The Overseas Workers Management Department, MOLISA has just announced the pilot implementation scheme about the Government's Decision No.71 on supporting 61 poor districts and boosting overseas workers with the target of over two million of the poor working abroad by 2020.
There are four supporting policies for the poor working overseas including: Improving education level in maximum of 12 months before working abroad ; financing 100% of job training fees for poor households and ethnic minorities and 50% for other beneficiaries in 61 poor districts; if, by 12 months, a laborer has to come back home due to bad health, or employers meet difficulty in business and production, or being unilaterally terminated labor contracts, he or she shall be supported a one-way ticket ; the poor and ethnic minorities are entitled to borrow loans with 50% of the VBSP's availing interest rate applied for overseas workers; others are entitled to borrow loans with the interest rate applied for policy beneficiaries. The program shall be piloted in three provinces of Thanh Hóa, Yên Bái and Quảng Ngãi.
