“To achieve the outstanding achievement in providing small finance for poor households and other policy-based beneficiaries, this is thanks to mutual coordination, effort and devotion for working of all branch employees”.

To get more understanding on the success of product delivery, we paid a visit to the Van Yen District transaction office of Yen Bai province. In 2015, the transaction office extended 10 preferential credit programs to over 14,000 turns of borrowers with total loan portfolio of over VND 311 billion.

Visited the poor household of Dang Thi Tam, Dao ethnic minority in Dong Banh, Yen Thai commune, Van Yen district we had a chance to listen to Tam’s confide, she said: After borrowing VND 30 million in the poor household lending program for raising cows and plant tea. Thanks to taking care and disease prevention, the mother cow gave birth to one calf and a bump harvest of tea field, helping her family to generate incomes and release poverty. Recently, right after on time and full repayment, she continued to borrow VND 50 million from the credit program for households who have just released poverty in order to expand business and production, improving the living standard for family members.

Van Yen district branch lent more than VND 126 billion to 9,000 poor households, around VND 41 billion for over 2,000 near poor households, nearly VND 30 billion for clean water supply and sanitation to 4,500 households, VND 73 billion to business and production households in disadvantaged areas and nearly VND 10 billion to over 300 households who just released from poverty.
