Vietnamese farmer make rice conveyor belt
(VBSP News) When the harvest comes, the transportation of rice to boats or trucks is mainly manual. However, this work is very hard, heavy, leading to that labor productivity is not high. Realizing this problem, Mr. Huynh Van Tiep in Thuan Dong hamlet, Loi Thuan commune, Ben Cau district (Tay Ninh) had the idea of making a conveyor belt to transport rice.
The rice conveyor belt of Mr. Tiep
Mr. Tiep studied the operating mechanism of the device by spending a month researching and referencing the operating mechanism of other cargo conveyors. After 10 days of implementing, he finished his product. From 2020 until now, he has built 3 conveyor belts to transport rice. "The first one is quite hard, so it takes a little more time. However, the later ones are easier for me so the products are also better," Mr. Tiep shared.
The structure of Mr. Tiep's rice conveyor system consists of 3 sections, with a total length of 15 meters. The two conveyor heads are designed to move up and down through the control device. It has the characteristics of large conveying capacity, simple structure and convenient maintenance.
Previously, it took 8 workers to carry rice from the truck to the boat. Currently, only 4 people are needed (halving the labor) and the work is much lighter than before, in which, 2 workers on the truck to put the rice bags on the conveyor connected to the boat, 2 workers on the boat to receive and process the rice.
Mr. Tiep has rented a vacant land with an area of about 5000 square meters to make a rice drying field. This is also the place where traders collect rice to gather, then transport it by boat or truck to the West. Mr. Tiep is in charge of looking after and hiring workers to transport rice for traders. At the gathering yard, Mr. Tiep arranged 2 rice conveyor belts. Putting the machine into operation has helped improve work efficiency and free up labor. Previously, workers carried 30-50 tons of rice every day, now thanks to using the conveyor belts, 100 tons are carried per day.
According to Mr. Le Minh Trong - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Loi Thuan commune, Ben Cau district, Mr. Tiep was a farmer from the West, in the 1990s, he returned to Tay Ninh to establish a business. Thanks to his diligence and support from VBSP to develop production, his family economy has been increasingly improved.
Mr. Tiep is a creative person in production. “Manufacturing rice conveyor belts is a very good idea and thinking in manufacturing machinery and applying scientific and technical advances to production practice, thereby increasing labor productivity, saving time and costs”, Mr. Trong shared.
