Training course “Green finance for renewable energy development in Viet Nam”
(VBSP News) On September 28, 2021, VBSP coordinated with the Green Innovation and Development Center (Green ID) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) organized an online training course on “Green finance for renewable energy development in Viet Nam”. The training course was held via the Zoom Cloud Meetings software with 31 participants who are representatives of leaders and officers of units at the VBSP Headquarters. Experienced experts in green finance of GreenID and UNEP directly participated in teaching.

At the opening of the training course, VBSP Deputy General Director Tran Lan Phuong said that sustainable development and green growth were becoming a common development trend of countries around the world. Green growth simultaneously solves the problems between growth and the environment - society, ensuring economic growth, environmental and social protection and climate change resilient. Through the role of providing capital for the economy, the banking system plays an important role in the implementation of green growth.
Through this training course, participants can exchange, learn and share experiences to raise awareness about green finance, green credit, especially renewable energy solutions applied in production & business of customers and promote access to green finance for the poor, female enterprises and other disadvantaged groups.
After the opening session, experts from GreenID, UNEP and SBV presented an overview of green development and green finance in Vietnam; risks and opportunities for the banking industry in the context of climate change; how to approach to domestic and international green finance; opportunities and challenges for women enterprises when accessing green finance; Green Bonds initiative and opportunities for women enterprises to join this mechanism.
Besides, the experts also shared about the criteria for building a green loan portfolio; evaluation criteria for selecting renewable energy-based livelihood projects and female entrepreneurs in Vietnam; how to analyze and approach green finance for RE projects and female entrepreneurs in Vietnam, etc.
As a result, the participants can also participate in discussing the content of the training course for reference, research and effective application in practice, contributing to the development of VBSP for a "green and sustainable future".
