The policy credit contributes to the development of sedge mat craft villages in Nga Son district
(VBSP News) Regarding Nga Son district (Thanh Hoa province), sedge mats are considered as a signature product. Thanks to programs and projects to restore, preserve and promote the effectiveness of traditional products, and especially is policy credit from VBSP, thousands of people in this area have a stable source of income from sedge mats.
Among these years, the VBSP transaction office in Nga Son district has created conditions for many households to borrow preferential loans, helping them maintain and expand production. It also contributed to preserving and developing the local traditional craft. Until now, VBSP has served 13,737 poor households and other policy beneficiaries, with a total outstanding loan of nearly VND 436 billion.

The preferential capital source has supported hundreds of households in the communes of Nga Thanh, Nga Lien, Nga Tien, Nga Thuy, Nga Tan, etc. to invest in renovating sedge fields

With a preferential loan from VBSP, Tran Thi Thom's family in Nga Thuy commune invests in the production and purchase of sedge products. The family's average income is nearly 400 million VND/year
Thanks to the policy credit, many households in Nga Son district have invested in intensive farming and improvement of sedge fields to grow a rare, long, tough and shiny sedge
The traditional sedge mat profession also creates jobs for thousands of workers in the area
Policy credit has been effectively promoted, contributing to the restoration, preservation and development of traditional sedge mat craft which is in danger of extinction
