VBSP works with organizations from Bangladesh
(VBSP News) In June 2023, VBSP has worked with two delegations from Bangladesh, PKSF and the Community Development Center (CODEC) to Vietnam for better understanding in the agriculture, microfinance and aquaculture.

Welcoming the Delegations to visit and work with VBSP, VBSP Deputy General Director Huynh Van Thuan summarized the main features of VBSP activities after more than 20 years of development. The bank has remarkable contribution to poverty reduction and social security in Vietnam; and helped the poor have capital for production and business, stabilize their lives, and escape poverty sustainably.
As a government credit institution, operating not for profit, VBSP is the largest provider of microfinance for poor households and policy beneficiaries in Vietnam. Up to now, VBSP has established a model of organization, management and credit method suitable to the specific characteristics of Vietnam and is promoting its effectiveness. Over the past 20 years, VBSP has also established more than 168 thousand Savings and Credit groups, nearly 11,000 Transaction points in communes and wards, with the method of serving people at home and disbursing and collecting debts in the commune. Up to now, the total outstanding loan of VBSP has reached more than 302 trillion VND with over 6.6 million active borrowers.
Mr. Md Humayun Kabir - Deputy General Director of PKSF thanked VBSP for the warm welcome and congratulated the achievements that VBSP has achieved in implementing preferential credit policy for poverty reduction, and agriculture development. PKSF (Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation) is a non-profit organization established by the government of Bangladesh in 1990 with the main objective of providing financial support and capacity building to organizations implementing microcredit programs. Sharing the similar activities to VBSP in Bangladesh, from 2009 to now, PKSF has sent many delegations to visit VBSP as well as getting experiences from Vietnam in the fields of agriculture, rural areas development. PKSF always appreciates the organization and exposure visit program of VBSP.

Previously, the delegation of the Community Development Center (CODEC) - Bangladesh led by Mr. Kamal Sen Gupta - Deputy Managing Director also had a study visit on aquaculture and microfinance in Vietnam from May 24, 2023 to June 1, 2023. The delegation went on a study tour in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City and Long An.
