Scientific workshop "Building VBSP’s development strategy in the period of 2021 – 2030 and vision of 2050"

(VBSP News) On May 20, VBSP organized a scientific workshop: "Building VBSP’s development strategy in the period of 2021 - 2030 and vision of 2050" in Hanoi. PhD. Duong Quyet Thang - General Director of VBSP chaired the workshop.

Attending the workshop wereBoard members, Le Ngoc Bao – Chief of BOD’s Supervisory Committee, Deputy General Directors, Pham Thi Hoang Anh - Director of Research Institute for Banking (Banking Academy) with the research team and leaders of some VBSP’s functional departments at the Head Office.

At the beginning of the workshop, PhD. Duong Quyet Thang affirmed that after 17 years of construction and development, VBSP's position has been raised. VBSP has become a "bright spot" in poverty reduction and economic development, which is recognized and highly appreciated by the Congress, Government and citizens.

Developed in a sustainable way, VBSP becomes the essential tool in effective implementation of the State's credit policy on fast and sustainable poverty reduction in the socialist-oriented market economy, contributing to thesuccess of the Socio-Economic Development Strategy in the period of 2021 - 2030 and the 2030 agenda for sustainable development. Especially, on August 8, 2018, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 986 / QD-TTg approving the strategy of developing Vietnam's banking industry to 2025 and vision of 2030. Therefore, the research "Building VBSP’s development strategy in the period of 2021 – 2030 and vision of 2050" is an essential and urgent research to promote achievements, continue to build and develop VBSP to be compatible with the development context of the country.

At the workshop, some delegates made contributions on the research "Building VBSP’s development strategy in the period of 2021 - 2030, vision of 2050". In general, they agreed that VBSP’s development strategy for the next period in the context of VBSP’s gradual growth is essential. This is the basis for developing VBSP's short-term and long-term operational plans in each specific period.

Regarding the strategic content of the project, the delegates said that it is necessary to define the mission, vision and key tasks of VBSP, especially emphasizing on tasks of poverty reduction and social security. Moreover, based on the functions and duties of VBSP, the operational model and organizational structure of the bank are defined to suit each specific stage. Some delegates also emphasized the objective assessment of the current conditions, thereby having a basis to build predictive indicators and ensuring feasibility of the strategy.

They also suggested that, in the process of finalizing the project, the research team should study development strategies of some microfinance institutions and strategies of domestic and international research and training institutions in the same field to get experiences and ideas.

At the end of workshop, PhD. Duong Quyet Thang - General Director of VBSP requested the research team of " Building VBSP’s development strategy in the period of 2021 – 2030 and vision of 2050" to stick with Decision No. 622 / QD-TTg dated 10/5/2017 on promulgating a National Action Plan to implement the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, including 17 major objectives and 115 small objectives, based on the socio-economic development objectives of the country during13th Congress of the Party Central Committee. VBSP’s draft strategyto 2030 and vision of 2050 firstly needs to closely follow the State's guidelines. Finally, the General Director emphasized the strategy must be able to forecast the bank's operations in the coming time in order to set goals, solutions and orientations for VBSP development.
