In 2019, after being disbursed VND 20 million by VBSP Tuong Duong district (Nghe An) from the Rural Safe Water and Environmental Sanitation program, Mr. Vi Cong Ly's household (in Pung village, Luu Kien commune) bought 10 rolls of pipes to bring water from the source of the stream to his house.

Although 4 years have passed, the water system is still effective even during periods of prolonged heat. Mr. Vi Cong Ly said that if he did not do this way, every year, his family would seriously lack of water during the dry season. Once having money, he immediately started building this self-flowing water system. Now the water is very strong and hygienic. Currently, even though the hot and dry weather lasts for a long time, his family no longer faces issue of water shortage.

Ms. Lu Thi Luu's family (in Khe Kien village, Luu Kien commune), in the past, all activities used water directly from the stream. The water source is not hygienic, so her family members often suffer from intestinal and dermatological diseases.

In 2022, her family received a loan of VND 20 million from VBSP to build a closed bathroom, toilet and domestic water facility to ensure stable water storage.

Ms. Lu Thi Luu shared: "My family borrowed money from VBSP to build a water tank. Because there is a stable water reserve, it is much more convenient than directly using water before, otherwise there will be no water to use this dry season".

Tam Thai commune is also one of the localities that effectively implemented loans from the Rural Safe Water and Environmental Sanitation program. According to the Resolution of the Tam Thai Commune Party Committee, by 2025, 100% of the households using hygienic water, of which 93% will be able to use safe water. To date, in the commune, the proportion of people using hygienic water has reached over 95%, contributing to maintaining Tam Thai commune's new rural standards.

In recent times, in the mountainous district of Tuong Duong, over 7,560 households have taken loans from VBSP. 95% of the households has used hygienic water. Of which, 89% of the households using safe water; contributing to bringing 4 communes and 5 villages to meet new rural areas standards, especially, solving the lack of water during the hot and dry season for the local people.

Mr. Hoang Van Thang - Deputy Director of VBSP Tuong Duong district shared: Many households have built safe water and environmental sanitation projects, helping improve their lives, contributing to building new rural areas in the district. In the coming time, VBSP will prioritize solving this credit source so that local people have opportunities to serve the urgent needs of their daily lives.

In the coming time, the Government will have more preferential policies for this loan source, Mr. Lo Thanh Nhat - Deputy Chairman of People's Committee of Tuong Duong District said: Tuong Duong district determines that by 2025, up to 99% of people will be able to use hygienic water.

However, the problem is that the number of borrowers is still controlled, the loan is only VND 20 million, so there are certain difficulties in organizing implementation. Therefore, the District Party Committee requests the competent authorities to continue implementing this program and expand the target audience, while increasing the loan sources of this program.

Water is an urgent need for human life, however, the weather is increasingly harsh and water is increasingly scarce. Therefore, in the coming time, it is necessary for mountainous people to access more incentives from loans for safe water and environmental sanitation.
