Poverty reduction in Ha Tinh province
Policy credit has supported the creation of jobs for nearly 9,000 workers, the construction of nearly 27,000 rural safe water and sanitation projects, and the construction of nearly 800 houses in Ha Tinh.
VBSP Cam Xuyen District disburses loans to poor households and other policy beneficiaries
Ms. Tran Thi Anh's family (in group 7, Cam Xuyen town) got out of poverty thanks to policy credit. 2 years ago, her family received a loan of VND 80 million from the program for the poor households of VBSP Cam Xuyen district. Her family invested in breeding sows; from the original 4 cows, the herd has now multiplied, selling 2 - 4 cows each year, generating revenue of nearly a hundred million dong.
Ms. Anh shared: "My husband has been sick and completely lost his ability to work. I have had to raise four children by myself. Luckily, my family could receive preferential credit from VBSP to invest in business; and my family escaped poverty. Each year, we have a stable income from farming, therefore, our children have opportunities of schooling".
Ms. Anh's family is one of the customers in Cam Xuyen district who have able to access to policy credit. Policy resources have made an important contribution to creating jobs, increasing revenue, and improving the quality of people life.
Nguyen Van Duc, Director of VBSP Cam Xuyen District, said: Following the direction of superiors, the unit has proactively coordinated with local authorities at all levels and entrusted mass organizations to timely deploy the credit programs. Prioritized industries for investment include: fishing - farming and seafood processing, general livestock farming, afforestation, purchasing - processing agricultural products, etc.
Currently, the total outstanding debt of VBSP Cam Xuyen District has reached VND 639 billion with more than 12,000 households receiving credit. In which, total outstanding debt of the poor households has been VND 60.3 billion with 754 active borrowers; total outstanding debt of the near-poor households has been VND 60.3 billion with 1,283 active households; total outstanding debt of post-poor households has been VND 173 billion with 3,570 loan households. Policy capital has made an important contribution to reducing the poverty rate of Cam Xuyen district from 4.39% (end of 2022) to 2.8% (end of 2023).
In Can Loc district, policy credit programs have been also widely deployed to every village with 284 Savings and Credit Groups. Thanks to active propaganda, poor households and policy households have raised awareness, changed their thinking and working methods to improve their lives and increase their income.
In October 2023, Ms. Tran Thi Hanh's family (in Khe Giao village, Son Loc commune) was disbursed VND 90 million by VBSP Can Loc district. Her land of growing acacia was widened with the total area of 40 hectares. Ms. Hanh shared: "Thanks to policy credit, my family could develop our economy with the income per year about hundreds of millions dong."
Luu Tung Duong, Director of VBSP Can Loc District said: The unit has promptly coordinated to implement preferential credit programs to meet the need for production development of poor households and other beneficiaries. At the same time, they also strengthen inspection and supervision to ensure that loans have been given to the right subjects and the borrowers have used the loans for the right purpose; contributing to the successful implementation of the goal of poverty reduction and improving people's lives. Currently, the total outstanding debt of VBSP Can Loc district has reached over VND 600 billion; in which, the outstanding loans to the poor households have reached over VND 30 billion, the outstanding loans to the near-poor households have reached over VND 44 billion, the outstanding loans to the post-poor households have reached over VND 240 billion and the outstanding debt to job creation have been over VND 93 billion.
In recent years, VBSP Ha Tinh branch has made efforts to help the poor and other beneficiaries access to preferential credit, contributing to the effective implementation of the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction, new rural construction and social security. The branch has built an operation network to villages with more than 3,068 Savings and Credit Groups, 216 commune transaction points, publicizing credit policies for borrowers to understand and participate.
Bui Thi Ngoc Ha, Director of VBSP Ha Tinh branch said: The branch has followed the direction of the VBSP Head Office, party committees, local authorities at all levels, and actively coordinated with mass organizations. At the same time, the unit has taken full advantage of capital to promptly meet the needs of poor households and other policy beneficiaries to invest in economic development, improve household lives, and gradually get out of poverty. With 18 preferential policy credit programs, total loan revenue in 2023 is estimated to reach VND 1,898 billion, outstanding debt is estimated to reach VND 6,680 billion (an increase of VND 876.4 billion compared to 2022) with over 108 thousand active households.
