Creating jobs in Kien Giang province
Thanks to credit from the Program of Job Creation under Decree No.11/NQ-CP of the Government on Recovery and Socio-economic Development Program, many individuals and households in Kien Giang had opportunities to expand their scale of production and create jobs for local people.
Many households in Kien Giang expanded their production thanks to policy credit
Program of job creation was one of the most important channels for economic development and sustainable poverty reduction. For many years, VBSP Kien Giang branch has timely deployed and propagated program of job creation, helping people in the area access to preferential credit.
Ms. Dinh Thi Tuoi (Nam Thai Son commune, Hon Dat district) said that her economy used to be unstable. Thanks to preferential credit from VBSP, her family could have more money to raise pigs, helping members in her family get jobs and improve economy.
Ms. Dao Ngoc Thi (Nga Cay village, Dong Yen commune) said that she took a loan of VND 50 million to develop aworkshop of sewing clothes and selling fabric. With the initial loan, she bought sewing machines and fabric. At first, she got difficulties because she did not have many experiences. Then, she joined the training course about garment. After 1 year, she reached a net profit of over VND 70 million per year.
Mr. Thu shared: “The preferential credit from VBSP helped my family promote income and stabilize our lives”.
Nguyen Quoc Thinh, Deputy Director of Kien Giang branch said that preferential policy credit was deployed to 100% of communes, wards and towns; helping the poor and policy beneficiaries to timely access. As of October 31, the total loan reached nearly VND 5,400 billion, an increase of more than VND 600 billion compared to the beginning of 2023. Total outstanding loans of credit programs reached VND 5,379 billion, an increase of VND 595 billion compared to the beginning of 2023. The total number of customers borrowing loans was nearly 157,600 households; average outstanding debt per one customer was VND 34.13 million.
Over the past 21 years, policy capital in Kien Giang province has contributed to create jobs for over 158 thousand workers, including more than 2,000 workers working abroad. In addition, policy credit has helped poor and near-poor households decisively invest to develop the economy, gaining stable income for their families.
