VBSP’s operation results in the first 9 months in 2019
(VBSP News) The preferential credits for VBSP’s poverty reduction programs totaled about VND 199.82 trillion ($8.61 billion) as of August 2019, which rose 40.2% from those as of December 31, 2015. The following are the preferential credit programs for poverty reduction programs:
The soft loans of the poor households’ credit program were VND 35.89 trillion, accounting for 18% and more than 1.1 million households have remained clients of the program now. The total loans of the near-poor households’ credit program hit VND 31.57 trillion, making up 15.8%, and more than 894,000 households have still borrowed the loans from the program. The credits for the households, which have just escaped from poverty, were VND 33.16 trillion, accounting for 16.6% and more than one million households have remained the clients. The credits for the clean water and rural sanitation program were VND 34.04 trillion, making up 17%. The credits for the job creation program hit VND 17.28 trillion, representing 8.7% and more than 529,000 clients have gained access to the credit. The credit program for disadvantaged students hit VND 11.04 trillion, accounting for 5.5%.
The poor borrowed preferential capital from VBSP
The quality of policy credit has been constantly strengthened and improved. The ratio of overdue and frozen debts currently accounts for only 0.74% of total outstanding loans, of which overdue debts account for 0.35%.
9 months' loan turnover reached VND 54,983 billion, an increase of VND 6,156 billion compared to the same period last year, with more than 1,620 thousand turns of poor, near-poor, just escaped from poverty households and other policy beneficiaries. Policy credit activities have contributed to supporting production and business investment capital, creating jobs for more than 162 thousand laborers, of which more than 4.8 thousand workers working abroad for limited time; helping more than 12,000 disadvantaged students continue to study; building more than 1 million facilities for clean water and sanitation; building over 12,000 houses for poor households, more than 3 thousand social houses according to Decree No. 100/2015/ND-CP, etc.

In addition, social policy credit has made important contributions to the implementation of effective guidelines, policies, objectives and tasks set by the Party and the State on sustainable poverty reduction, building a new countryside, focusing on human resource development, ensuring social security and political stability, national defense security and socio-economic development.
