Policy Bank of Lao PDR visits Vietnam Bank for Social Policies

(VBSP News) On March 13^th, 2019, in Hanoi, the delegation of the State Bank  and the Policy Bank (NBB) of Lao PDR led by NBB General Director Vutthi LUEANVILAYVONG  were greeted by VBSP’s General Director Duong Quyet Thang and VBSP's senior leaders. The visit is organized within activities of Cooperation program between VBSP and NBB in the stage of 2016 -2020.

Delivering a speech at the meeting, VBSP’s General Director Duong Quyet Thang appreciated the cooperation between VBSP and NBB for the past nine years (2010-2019) and hope that through this visit, NBB can get experiences from VBSP to apply in NBB, helping NBB to improve operation quality in the coming time.

On behalf of the NBB delegation, General Director Vutthi LUEANVILAYVONG thanked for enthusiastic reception of VBSP. General Director of NBB stressed that between 2016 and 2018, implementing the signed cooperation program, the two banks have actively exchanged knowledge and experiences in administration and operation; human resources development; organizing comprehensive implementation of professional activities, especially the implementation of preferential credit programs of the Government in the two countries in order to achieve the goal of poverty reduction, contributing to socio-economic development. With lessons learned from the VBSP through visits and trainings, NBB has piloted a lending model through village loan and savings group which lend to members of the group, the group’s Board member is responsible for managing debt and urging debt repayment for NBB etc.

The meeting

 Within the framework of the program, VBSP and NBB have signed a cooperation agreement for the period 2019-2020. Cooperation activities are to find out

credit operations and information technology; mobilizing capital; services of VBSP, conduct information exchange and answer business questions within the fields of cooperation; Organizing events to learn experiences and exchange information between branches in accordance with the laws and customs of the two countries.

The delegation of NBB then visited and worked in Quang Ninh VBSP branch for further research on policy credit activities  in the commune, meeting with VBSP Savings and Credit group leaders and customers.
