A VBSP officer is dedicated to the poor

Mr. Son is praised for his enthusiasm, thoughtfulness, dedication and responsibility in his job by the poor and other disadvantaged groups in Mai Son district.
Mr. Son has been working at VBSP for 14 years. From a credit officer, he often communicated with the ethnic minorities, who are mainly poor and have limited knowledge on breeding, cultivation and production. At that time, many poor households were not brave enough to borrow loans because they did not know what to use the loans for and they were afraid of not being able to repay.
Therefore, Mr. Son went to each household to explain that VBSP's loans will help them stabilize their family economy and promote the role and position of the heads of households. Through credit programs, VBSP has created favorable conditions for poor households and disadvantaged groups to access the financial services and guide how to use loans effectively.
Thanks to the good guidance, propagation and mobilization for group members on complying with the rules of the Savings and Credit Group, they have repaid principal and interest on time as committed with the bank. As a result, overdue debt accounts for only 0.02% of the total outstanding loans.
Thanks to VBSP’s financial services, many poor households have been able to develop their economy and escape from poverty. The district's poverty rate decreased from 25.54% in 2015 to 15.65% in 2019.
Mr. Hoang Xuan Truong – VBSP Director in Son La province shared: “Mr. Cam Van Son is a person who is dedicated to his job and always tries to help the poor to access VBSP's loans for business and production development”.
