Poverty reduction in Bach Thong
Recently, VBSP Bach Thong district (Bac Kan) has effectively disbursed policy credit sources, especially credit sources for the poor households and post-poor households. Loan capital has truly played an important role in poverty reduction in the locality.
The cattle fattening model of Hoa Phat Cooperative, Luc Binh commune brings economic efficiency
2,308 customers in Bach Thong district received loans from programs such as: lending to poor households, near-poor households, post-poor households, production and business households in disadvantaged areas; 1,120 works of safe water and sanitation were built; 616 workers were created jobs; 15 migrant workers for a limited time in 2023.
The total number of poor households and policy households receiving policy credit loans in Bach Thong district is 5,290 households. With loans from VBSP, they have invested in production and livestock, improving quality of life, contributing to ensuring social security and building new rural areas.
According to the report of VBSP Bach Thong district, the average outstanding debt of an administrative unit is currently over VND 30 billion, in which, Tan Tu is the commune with the highest outstanding debt with over VND 54 billion, Cao Son is the commune with the lowest outstanding debt with more than VND 09 billion. Through the network of commune transaction points, local people are facilitated to access timely policy credit.
To improve the effectiveness of lending to poor households, near-poor households and other policy beneficiaries, VBSP Bach Thong district has actively coordinated with commune-level mass organizations and the Savings and Credit Group; ensuring that the loans are given to the right beneficiaries, the borrowers use the loans for the right purpose and has promptly handled problems.
Mr. Tran Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of VBSP Bach Thong District said: In the past year, the unit has focused on balancing credit sources, closely coordinated with mass organizations entrusted to promptly disburse loans for poor households and other policy beneficiaries. Currently, the total outstanding debt entrusted through the district's mass organizations reaches over VND 419 billion, accounting for 99.6% of the total outstanding debt.
In 2023, Bach Thong district was assigned funding under the National Target Program for sustainable poverty reduction of more than VND 13.4 billion. The people's models of animal husbandry, forestry and fruit tree planting have brought efficiency.
Mr. Hoang Van Kiem, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee said: In 2024, the district will focus on closely directing the first part of poverty reduction plans until the end of 2025 to achieve the goals of constructing new rural area. In 2023, nearly 400 poor households and 75 near-poor households had better lives compared to 2022, which is truly an outstanding result for the locality.
