New vitality in the midland of Phu Tho
Thanks to timely and synchronously implementation of policies, with the priority of giving preferential credit to the right subjects, each year, Phu Tho province has thousands of households getting out of poverty, contributing to the completion of the National Target Program for sustainable poverty reduction for the period 2021 - 2025. To date, the whole province has 163 communes meeting the criteria for multidimensional poverty reduction (accounting for 83.2%), people's lives are significantly improved.
Local people receive disbursement of preferential credit at the Commune Transaction Point
Over the past 21 years, since its establishment, VBSP Phu Tho Provincial Branch has strived to overcome all difficulties and challenges, proactively mobilized large resources and effectively organized programs of State policy credit. To date, the branch has been implementing 20 policy credit programs to lend to poor households and other policy beneficiaries. From small-scale but humane programs such as: lending to disabled people, lending to people who have completed their prison sentences, eliminating temporary housing, building permanent houses... to large-scale programs with wide influence such as: lending to poor households, ethnic minority households in disadvantaged circumstances to develop production and business, lending to students, and policy credit programs according to Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP of the Government on job creation and socio-economic development. Over the past 10 years, the local budget entrusted to VBSP reached nearly VND 112 billion, bringing the branch's total policy credit resource to VND 6,025 billion, an increase of 12.7% compared to the end of 2022.
Thanks to the large capital source, the extent of transaction points, the network of Savings and Credit groups and mass organizations, Phu Tho's credit officers seem to be empowered to timely bring preferential credit to remote and disadvantaged areas.

Policy credit has helped thousands of poor households and other policy beneficiaries in the province to proactively invest in production and business development. In 2023, the whole province had 33,000 households receiving policy credit loans with a total amount of nearly VND 1,600 billion; the average loan turnover per district reached VND 123 billion; the average outstanding policy credit per commune was VND 26.7 billion and per customer was nearly VND 53 million.
Mr. Ha Van Nhat's family (in Chieng 2 village, Kim Phuong commune) effectively took advantage of the capital resources from two loan programs for poor households and loans for ethnic minority households in disadvantaged areas, and currently, he has had totally 8 buffaloes, 6 hectares of acacia forest, garden with 200 fruitful persimmon trees. His family's life is more stable with the income of nearly VND 200 million each year.
Entering 2024, the key task of VBSP Phu Tho Provincial Branch are to closely follow the direction of the industry and localities, focus on mobilizing resources, and promptly transfer all credit sources to right beneficiaries, contributing in sustainable poverty reduction and local socio-economic development.
