DFAT visited the transaction point of VBSP in Ninh Binh province for evaluating the SMS notification service for the poor and other vulnerable households
(VBSP News) Both Ministry of Austrialia Trade and Foreign Affairs (DFAT) and Asia Foundation (TAF) have just conducted a two-day visit to VBSP to assess the result of the phase 1 (2017-2018) within the project on studying and piloting mobile banking for the poor population, low-income and women-led micro-enterprises.
DFAT and TAF met with customers and field staff at the transaction point, Nam Son ward, Tam Diep town
They conducted a field survey in Ninh Binh province which was one the project areas, interviewed with customers, group leaders and field staff at the transaction point, Nam Son ward, Tam Diep town in terms of evaluating benefits of attending training courses on digital financial literacy and SMS notification services. They also met with senior officials of the provincial and district branch to discuss about the potential benefits of mobile banking and future plan of digital banking development, challenges and difficulties when launching.
DFAT advisor Ms. Mihella Balan said that she highly evaluated the sucess of the mobile banking project in phase 1, right after two years of launching the SMS notification services has helped customers raise awareness on digital technology, account information, loan reminders and repayment, other customer care services etc. It not only helped the bank and customer mitigate the loan consolidation cost and time but also more increasing savings mobilization from savings and credit groups.
