Tay Ninh: Getting out of poverty thanks to policy credit
Diversifying livelihoods for sustainable poverty reduction is considered an effective solution in implementing the National Target Program for socio-economic development, helping residents achieve lasting poverty alleviation in Tay Ninh province. In recent years, thousands of poor and near-poor households in the province have benefited from models of raising goats, providing motivation for many ethnic minority households to getting out of poverty.
VBSP disbursed preferential loans to local residents at the Commune Transaction Point
Tan Chau district has made significant efforts to effectively implement social welfare policies for ethnic minority communities through loan support and poverty reduction programs. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, local residents have boldly initiated various production models to develop family economies. Statistics show that VBSP have supported 819 ethnic minority households with a total disbursed amount exceeding VND 22 billion.
Mr. Suc Ka Ri Gia (Suoi Day Commune, Tan Chau District) took a loan from VBSP to buy goats for farming, earning an income of over VND 100 million per year
Alongside providing loan support, communes in Tan Chau district have intensified vocational training activities, technical assistance and encouragement of effective economic models. A notable example is the commercial goat farming project implemented in Suoi Day Commune.
After receiving a VBSP loan of VND 30 million, Mr. Suc Ka Ri Gia (the Cham ethnic group) purchased goats for farming. Starting with just four female goats, he managed to repay the loan within a year and still had dozens of goats left. Currently, his herd has grown to over 40 goats, including about 20 breeding females and more than 20 goats being fattened for meat sales. Each year, Mr. Suc Ka Ri Gia sells around 50 goats, earning an income of over 100 million VND.
His family's life has become more stable since receiving loan support for goat farming
Recognizing the positive outcomes of the goat pen-farming model adopted by some members, the Farmers' Association of Suoi Day Commune has encouraged its members to shift from less effective livestock models to goat pen-farming. Initially, only a few households participated, but now the entire commune boasts nearly 40 households raising over 800 goats.
Many households in Suoi Day commune have developed the pen-raised goat farming model using policy loans
To expand the herd and purchase additional breeding stock, the Farmers' Association of the commune has helped members access low-interest loan sources. Additionally, they regularly organize discussion sessions and visits to farms, allowing members to learn from each other's experiences and provide mutual support in developing the pen-raised goat farming model.
The officials of the Suoi Day Commune Farmers' Association also frequently visit households to disseminate information, provide support in livestock management and offer assistance with medications and care for sick goats
The socialization of poverty reduction efforts has created a widespread movement, attracting and encouraging citizens to participate in poverty reduction programs.
