Provincial Social Policy Bank Representative Board: Deploying tasks for 2025

On February 26, the Provincial Social Policy Bank (SPB) Representative Board held a conference to deploy tasks for 2025. Comrade Ngo Vu Thang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial SPB Representative Board chaired the conference.

According to the report of the Social Policy Bank - Bac Lieu Branch, in 2024, social policy credit activities always received attention and close direction from the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee and the Central Social Policy Bank. Credit programs were implemented promptly, ensuring that loan capital was disbursed quickly, in accordance with procedures and beneficiaries. Total disbursement turnover reached 3,319 billion VND, an increase of 258 billion VND compared to the beginning of the year, contributing significantly to poverty reduction, social security and local economic development.

In particular, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, and districts, towns, and cities have proactively allocated more than VND80.1 billion from the budget to supplement loan capital. This demonstrates the responsibility and deep concern of local Party committees and authorities for the poor, policy beneficiaries, as well as social policy credit activities.

Over the past year, the provincial branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies has disbursed VND828 billion, supporting 23,570 households to borrow capital, raising the total outstanding debt to VND3,315 billion. Currently, there are 96,283 poor households and policy beneficiaries enjoying preferential credit programs. Credit quality continues to be maintained, borrowers use capital effectively, for the right purposes, contributing to improving their lives and developing production. In particular, total overdue debt and frozen debt has decreased by more than VND39 billion compared to the beginning of the year, showing the effectiveness of credit management.

In 2025, the Provincial People's Credit Fund Representative Board set out key tasks: Increase capital sources by at least 10%, disburse on time, complete 100% of outstanding debt plan, reduce overdue debt by at least 15%; improve the quality of operations of savings and loan groups, strive for 100% of districts to achieve good credit quality...

At the conference, delegates focused on comprehensively assessing the results achieved in social policy credit activities, pointing out the limitations and shortcomings that need to be overcome. At the same time, delegates proposed many practical solutions to improve the effectiveness of implementing policy credit programs in the coming time.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Ngo Vu Thang emphasized the important role of policy credit in poverty reduction and local socio-economic development. At the same time, he requested all levels and sectors to continue advising on allocating local budgets to reach 15% of total capital, effectively implementing directives and decrees on policy credit, strengthening supervision, handling bad debts and promoting propaganda to improve the effectiveness of credit programs in the province.

In addition, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested districts, towns and cities to proactively implement Directive 39 of the Secretariat and related instructions, ensuring that policy credit capital is disbursed to the right subjects and used effectively. The provincial branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies needs to closely coordinate with local authorities and mass organizations to inspect and supervise borrowing, limiting the occurrence of bad debts. At the same time, promote and improve the quality of operations of the system of savings and loan groups to optimize the effectiveness of policy credit programs in the province.

On this occasion, 24 collectives and 30 individuals with outstanding achievements in consolidating and improving the quality of social policies in the province in 2024 were honored - (photo).
