Ninh Binh increases policy credit funding for people with meritorious services

(VBSP News) In the middle of July, we had the opportunity to join VBSP staff in the journey of visiting Vietnamese heroic mothers, war invalids, families of people with meritorious services in the province on the occasion of 72 years of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2019).

Từ nguồn vốn vay ưu đãi, gia đình anh Đinh Xuân Hùng, xã Kim Trung đã đầu tư phát triển kinh tế gia đình, cho hiệu quả kinh tế cao

From policy loan, Mr. Dinh Xuan Hung's family in Kim Trung commune has invested in family economic development, achieving high economic efficiency.

In a series of meaningful activities, we visited models of economic development which effectively use policy loans. In Kim Trung commune, one of 5 communes enjoying preferential credit policies for disadvantaged areas of Kim Son district, the capital for meritorious people has really "blossomed".

A war invalid - Truong Chi Nguyen, hamlet 5, with an invalid rate of 71% is one of the typical examples of good economic models, owning 2 hectares with dozens of ponds for breeding oysters, seed crabs and breeding shrimps worth billions VND every year.

It is known that after leaving the army, Mr. Nguyen returned to his hometown to develop household economy, however, due to lack of capital, he was always in difficulties. 8 years ago, when VBSP facilitated a loan of VND 30 million from the program of lending to production and business households in disadvantaged areas, along with his own savings, Nguyen decisively invested in building an aquaculture model.

In addition to family economic development, he also actively participated in production in Kim Trung Aquaculture Cooperative. Taking profit gaining in short-term to serve long - term investment, his family's aquaculture model has brought about good results. With accumulated experience after many years involved in aquaculture in the cooperative and with support from VBSP, Mr. Nguyen continued to build models of breeding including: clam, Pacific oyster , estuarine oysters, shrimp, green crabs.

It is estimated that every year, there are 3 batches of estuarine oysters, 4 batches of Pacific oysters (3,000 clusters each), tens of thousands of  baby crabs and shrimp etc,. If the weather is favorable, with no risks, the model is expected to earn billion VND each year. Mr. Nguyen said: “The policy loan is not too big but it is really an important motivation for households to rise in the difficult period.

Besides, low interest rates, simple loan procedures, quick disbursement have created favorable conditions for households to borrow. This capital source helps policy shouseholds like my family to expand production and develop towards farms  effectively ”.

Thanks to VBSP's capital, Mr. Dinh Xuan Hung's family, hamlet 4, Kim Trung commune have successfully developed the advanced extensive system of shrimp farming. Mr. Hung said: As the son of a martyr, his family has been facilitated with preferential loans by local authorities and VBSP.

From 2014 up to now, his family has borrowed nearly VND 80 million from the program of lending to production and business in disadvantaged areas. With the capital borrowed, he invested to expand the model of aquaculture in saline and brackish water. Currently, Hung's family has 2 hectares of water surface to feed grouper, shrimp, and blue crab. Every year, he sells 1.2 tons of grouper and 1.7 tons of green crab and shrimp, bringing him an average income of VND 300-400 million.

In addition to the lending program for production and business in disadvantaged areas, Hung's family was also provided with loans for safe water and environmental sanitation to invest in construction of safe water and santiation works, thus, improve the quality of life.

Mr. Le Xuan Dinh - Chairman of War Veterans 'Association in Kim Trung commune said: By entrustment with  VBSP, War Veterans' Association of Kim Trung commune has helped many war invalids, sick soldiers and policy families have capital to develop production, thus, overcome poverty sustainably. Currently, outstanding loans of policy credit programs in Kim Trung commune managed by the Vietnam War Veterans' Association is VND 5.3 billion with 97 active borrowers.

In which, 10 active borrowing households are households of war invalids, sick soldiers, people with meritorious services. After borrowing, the households have used loans effectively and for the right purposes. There have been many models earning profit of billions of VND each year such as: raising black tiger shrimp, white leg shrimp, grouper; breeding clams and oysters etc.

According to Deputy Director of provincial VBSP - Pham Duc Cuong, in recent years, VBSP has always paid attention to and well implemented social security and sustainable poverty reduction. In particular, the bank has prioritized preferential credit for people with meritorious services and policy families to invest in developing household economy.

Many war invalids and sick soldiers have promoted the quality of being a soldier, i.e, working hard and effectively use VBSP's capital to become rich households in the area. In the coming years, in addition to visiting and gratifying people with meritorious services to the revolution, VBSP will continue to prioritize preferential capital sources for war invalids, sick soldiers, and policy families that need loans to invest in developing production, business and getting rich.
